January Journal: rebranding and bomb threats
Join me on a journey through January: From data migrations to nostalgic reunions, let’s dive into the highlights of the past month.
Being an authorpreneur doesn’t mean I get to write every day. This January, my focus was on adapting my author’s platform to my new branding. One major undertaking was my author’s website. Before I can relaunch it, I need to migrate the old articles. That process takes time because it involves adjustments to image formats and re-link the various posts. Despite the time-consuming nature of this endeavor, reading those texts was a fun stroll down memory lane. There are still aspects to iron out with my web designer, but we’re making progress.
My focus, though, was on my email marketing. On that front, I finished migrating the last members of my email list to MailerLite’s new version. Setting up automation with my new branding was another milestone, topped off by the successful authentication of my domain with my email provider on the first attempt. Having crafted newsletters for over nearly fifteen years, it’s interesting to step into the technical realm that happens behind the scenes.
Amidst these digital pursuits, I made progress on the creative front. I outlined a new book for my upcoming “The Prince of Hellscape Series”. I plan to outline all six installments before I publish the supernatural thriller series.
To balance the screen time and boost my health and fitness, I went on daily walks or runs. In total, I tallied up an impressive total of 108km by month’s end.
The discovery of a World War 2 flying bomb just around the corner was an unsettling realization of how close history could brush against the present. Because I missed the prior warnings from the authorities, I found myself with only thirty minutes to evacuate my house. While it’s not uncommon for such bombs to be unearthed in construction sites, the proximity of danger to my everyday routine sent a shiver down my spine.
Yet, amidst the hustle and bustle, the true highlight of January was the visit of an old friend. We both enjoy cooking, so we spend most of our time in the kitchen. As we shared meals and reminisced about the past, the warmth of friendship and the joy of connection filled the room. Our conversations took us on a journey down memory lane, reminding ourselves of where we started and appreciating how far we’ve come.
In the end, January served as a reminder of the magic found in both the pursuit of goals and the simple pleasures of life.
