July Journal: family, friends, and outdoor activities
July was a busy month for me. Between annual check-ups with doctors, helping friends move and hiking in the summer heat, I found little time to work on the “Tales from the Omniverse”.
I spent a few days visiting family to celebrate my younger brother’s wedding. While the event was joyful, the journey there wasn’t without its challenges. Traveling with Deutsche Bahn, I accumulated several hours of delays. Despite these hiccups, the time spent with family was well worth it.
A highlight was making travel plans with my older brother. We decided to fulfill a long-held dream of visiting New York City later this year. Though it will be a brief trip, only four days, we’re going to make the most of every moment. Our itinerary is already filling up with iconic destinations we’ve always wanted to see and experience.
While I’ve explored parts of Europe and even backpacked through New Zealand and Australia during my student days, this upcoming trip to New York feels special. I’m excited to explore a city that has always intrigued me, and even better, I’ll be able to share the adventure with my brother.
Meeting friends and staying fit
July was filled with memorable moments with friends and plenty of outdoor activities. I helped my best friend and his fiancée move into their new home, thankfully, on a relatively cool day. Unlike a few days ago, when we met for a 13km (8 miles) hike. Why we did that during a heatwave will forever remain a mystery. At least, we were smart enough to hike through a forested area. Despite the heat, I enjoyed the trip and the company.
I also had a friend visit for a few days, and we made a deliciously spicy curry together while catching up on life. It was great to reconnect and share some laughs.
Besides these social gatherings, I indulged in watching various sports events on television, including Euro24, the Tour de France, Wimbledon, Formula One, and the Olympics. But I didn’t just watch sports; I stayed active as well. Over the month, I logged around 125km (78 miles) of walking and running.
Update on "Tales from the Omniverse"
Besides meeting family and friends, and enjoying the summer rays, I barely wrote anything for “The Tales from the Omniverse”. Still, I made some progress on my upcoming projects. My editor returned the edits for “A Shattered Dawn” (working title), the first book in “The Prince of Hellscape Series”. While I haven’t dived into the revisions yet, I plan to start soon. My goal is to polish the supernatural suspense thriller and have it ready for publication this fall.
In addition to the edits for “A Shattered Dawn”, my editor also revisited “Dawning in Sin City”, the prequel to the supernatural series. The changes in “ASD” influenced some aspects of “Dawning”, which caused another round of revisions. This was an unexpected development, but an essential one to ensure consistency and coherence across the series.
I’m excited as the pieces of this new series come together. I can't wait to polish these stories and share them with my readers.
Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the release date!
