Nonfiction check-in: Progress on Branding for Authorpreneurs
As we enter the final stretch of the year, it’s the perfect time to take stock of where I stand with my 2025 nonfiction writing goals.
With summer almost over, I’ve been soaking in every ounce of daylight before the season slips away. Of course, every hour I spend outside is an hour I’m not writing. I can’t help feeling a little guilty about the time away from my desk.
Switching between speculative fiction and nonfiction has kept me busy, and occasionally frazzled. But most of my energy has gone into my nonfiction guide on branding for authorpreneurs. After over two years and several rewrites (some bigger than others), I’m finally close to the finish line. I just need to make the revisions my editor provided, and then I can finalize the book’s release.
I’m really looking forward to that time, as it will end the project and also take a load off my shoulders.

Sascha (SK) Alexander is not a fan of resolutions because, to him, they often feel vague and fleeting. Instead, he sets concrete goals.
Book cover
The cover design is well underway. My designer and I have finally finished the design. The subtitle gave me some grief, which is why there had been some delays with the cover. If you’ve ever worked on a book, you’ll know titles and subtitles have a mind of their own, changing shape every time you think you’ve nailed them. This one has gone through more revisions than I can count, but I have finally got it done.
Unfortunately, I also have to write that dreadful blurb. And if history is any indication, that might take almost as long as writing the guide itself.
