Spring Update: Changes in my Author’s Life
My new job shifts my personal priorities, affecting my author’s life. Here’s where my publishing plans for my speculative fiction stand now for 2026.
In February I started a full-time job, and it’s going well so far. I’m still adjusting to the role after spending the past few years writing full-time. There’s a lot to take in. At the same time, I genuinely enjoy the work, especially establishing the foundation for the company’s marketing and public relations efforts.
However, after nearly two months, it’s clear that I won’t reach the goals I set at the beginning of the year.
Despite all my preparation, there’s still a gap between “planned” and “done.” I have a backlog of blog posts, articles, emails, and social media content in progress, but none of it is ready to be published.
Therefore, I won't be able to stick to a weekly publishing schedule. And that’s fine.
Right now, my focus is simple: to get established in this new role and acclimate to the changes in my daily life. The upside is that I’m learning a lot, especially about content workflows and strategy, which will improve my work in the long run.
Still, this comes with consequences.

Writing Goals for 2026: New Speculative Fiction Releases
For 2026, SK Alexander plans to focus on writing more books, blog post, and emails about his Tales from the Omniverse.
The Prince of Hellscape’s Book Two
The biggest impact is on my fiction writing. The second book in The Prince of Hellscape Series will be delayed. My previous goal was to publish it in the spring, but I had the beginning of spring in mind. However, my goal is to release it in late spring or early summer. June, most likely.
The good news is that I finished the manuscript and sent it to my editor. The last stretch took longer than expected. I went into it thinking it only needed a light polish. I should have known better.
While editing, I came up with new ideas for not just this book but the entire series. I went back, adjusted the outline, rewrote sections, and expanded the manuscript by several thousand words.
Because I want my editor to receive the cleanest draft possible, I ran through two more editing passes before handing it off. It added time, no question. But it also strengthened the story. That trade-off is worth it. I’d rather delay the release than publish something that feels unfinished.
On the production side, my cover designer and I are close to completing the design. A few details still require work, but I’m hopeful of revealing it soon.
More changes to the Tales from the Omniverse
With everything going on, I’ve had to rethink my publishing approach. For now, I’m putting my “going wide” plans on hold. It simply makes little sense to expand to more platforms when I can not properly promote my books on Amazon as it is. On top of that, my author platform still needs work, especially with consistent content.
Therefore, I’m narrowing my focus and won’t release another new novel this fall. Instead, since my mother has been bothering me for a translation of The Empath Series, I'm going to work on those next. Then, I’ll do the same for The Prince of Hellscape Series.
So, expect the third novel in The Prince of Hellscape Series probably in early 2027.
