Sascha K. Alexander: Essentials for Authorpreneurs

Sascha K. Alexander: Essentials for Authorpreneurs

Authorpreneurs shape their literary ventures as business managers, creative directors, as well as marketing and sales managers. Under my new pen name, Sascha K. Alexander, I will provide guides, training manuals, and supplemental materials to authorpreneurs.

In the past two decades, the landscape for authors has undergone significant transformations. While the conventional avenues within the publishing industry persist, a parallel surge in self-publishing has taken center stage. The abundance of freelance editors, cover designers, and (digital) services has empowered authors to establish direct connections with their audience, bypassing the traditional channels of agents, publishers, and bookstores. Personal websites, social media, and email marketing now play pivotal and direct roles in this dynamic.

With this in mind, I firmly believe that every individual possesses the potential to write a book and share their stories with the world. However, building a self-publishing business demands not just a mere desire. Passion, professionalism, tenacity, and creativity are crucial to your success. I know this firsthand because through the publication of three books, a short story, and a novelette, I gained valuable knowledge and insights into the processes involved.

“Teach what I learn, learn what I teach”

Few things captivate me more than self-publishing. Through an extensive array of articles, books, and e-learning courses, I have learned a lot about the ins and outs of book creation, publication, and promotion. The culmination of all that I learned period came to fruition when I published “The Empath Series” under my other pen name, SK Alexander.

You see, writing is not just a craft for me, it is my passion. Being an author and writer is who I am: the good, the bad, and everything else in between. Each word penned, each topic explored, adds to my affection. Moreover, writing is my path to self-discovery and personal growth.

I've always enjoyed sharing what I learned, particularly on topics that I'm passionate about. This drive led me to expand my endeavors to assist other authorpreneurs.

I truly believe that regardless of our circumstances or perceived limitations, each of us possesses a wealth of insights, skills, and perspectives that can enrich the lives of others. By embracing the ethos of teaching what I learn, I not only want to empower others but also reinforce my understanding of the subject matter. This reciprocal exchange fosters a symbiotic relationship between learning and teaching and nurtures a cycle of perpetual growth and development. Hence, why I want to share the essentials I have learned about self-publishing.

The meaning behind “Essentials for Authorpreneurs”

Something that is 'essential' is absolutely necessary to a particular subject; and also encompasses the most basic aspect, the essence, of a thing. The tagline encapsulates the essence of what you can expect: fundamental advice tailored to you. From creating your brand and implementing it on your author platform, over business development, strategic aspects of book marketing, and (online) communication to worldbuilding and crafting a series—I aim to distill all that I have learned into practical lessons and pragmatic solutions in form of articles, books, as well as training videos.

The logo for this venture reflects my objective. In crafting the logo's design and color palette, the goal was to emanate an aura of professionalism and creativity, as well as reliability. The central element is the stylized 'A' that transforms into a feather, which embodies the concepts of writing and creativity. The gentle curve of the shape imparts a pleasing appearance and forms a balance between clarity and sophistication.

Why you can learn from me

Honesty is a fundamental principle that guides both my personal life and my business ventures. As such, I acknowledge certain areas are better addressed by those with more knowledge and experience, such as Mark Dawson, who is an expert in “Advertising for Authors” or Derek Doepker, who teaches "Audiobooks Made Easy".

What I bring to the table, though, is a unique perspective and a tailored approach that stems from my knowledge and experience. So, what makes following me worthwhile?

I have been writing and publishing for almost two decades. I have worked as a public relations officer for a national charity and non-profit organization. Later, I transitioned to a role with an international publisher, where I led online communications and wrote about advances in medicine and medical technology. Beyond this, I founded and operated a digital magazine that I sold to another publisher.

Throughout my career, I've played a pivotal role in (re)launching websites and publishing magazines and newspapers. I have managed and curated social media profiles and newsletters—a task in which I've engaged with diverse audiences and tailored messages specific to their interests. Moreover, I have crafted topic dossiers and various forms of articles. In short, my multifaceted experiences enable me to provide guidance and insights into (online) communication and (book) marketing.

And now, I’m willing to share all that I know and have learned. So, are you ready to unlock your potential as an authorpreneur? Then join me on a journey of growth and learning.
